KMDRNK

KMDRNK was formed in 1988 by 2 members of Mammary Collision who wanted to do things with a minimal amount of people, music structure and rehearsal space. So using a drum machine, synth and guitar they would lock themselves in a bedroom with coffee and marijuana and play for hours, drawing from influences like Big Black, Killing Joke, Cocteau Twins, Sonic Youth, Lydia Lunch and Nurse With Wound, they would design a drone sound unique to California at that time, with Al Bum of White Flag/Road Whore fame once referring to them as "like real music".
During this time they recorded enough songs for a full length release but would decide to release 3 songs instead as a demo that would be passed around to a few friends, one of whom was Dave Amato, a DJ at 88.1(Now 88.3) KUCR in Riverside, California. KMDRNK would get airplay on his local music show during the week until he graduated from UCR around 1991.

The band would play 2 live shows with one being recorded in 1989 at their Riverside Performing Arts studio for personal enjoyment a couple of close friends. The other live show was at the infamous Spanky's in Riverside in December of 1989, this show would feature guitarist Remy's wife on synth while Kenneth was on the road with Christian Death as a roadie during their North American Reunion Tour.
They would officially break up in 1990 due to personal and creative differences, with Remy focusing on married life and more mainstream music. Kenneth would go back to recording solo music for fun and jamming with old band mates and friends, although never playing live again. He currently works for Legion Canada Records and is involved in ME 262, a depressive ambient project.
